MTM’s science classes split their time between indoor and outdoor learning….
In 6th grade, students learn about the future of food through plant and culinary sciences by growing, harvesting, and cooking fruit and vegetables from the MTM Earth Lab gardens and hydroponics systems. Students also learn how to connect their classroom education to their community by understanding the importance of locally sourced food.
In 7th grade, students learn about the future of water through ecosystem sciences, water quality testing in the MTM Earth Lab, water conservation strategies, and watershed management techniques. Students will help their community by sharing their knowledge with the families and residents of the Lincoln Cluster.
In 8th grade, students will learn about the future of energy through exploring renewable energy sources like solar, wind and hydroelectric energy as well as innovations in electricity from electric vehicles to energy saving appliances. Students will learn to advocate for affordable and renewable energy for their community.
